Transform and Empower is an interdisciplinary learning path towards self actualisation and community building among people of diverse abilities, life situations and ways of communicating. In this transformative approach to human service culture, awareness of mutuality in relationships is a basis for personal and professional development of practitioners, helpers, service providers and leaders. Learners develop personal, collaborative and global perspectives, methodologies and tools for nourishing the initiative of those who have traditionally had least access to opportunity to become leaders of their own lives, person by person, as the starting point for collective visions and direction.
Learners can take one or both certificate courses. A unit within either certificate course contains 15 contact hours, 15 hours reading and action learning project and one individual mentoring session. Registered learners receive a course manual to support learning. Most units can also be taken as a stand-alone Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event.
How accreditation works
The Transform and Empower course is awarded through Crossfields Institute, and accredited through Edexcel - a government recognised UK awarding body for further education. The course offers a total of 30 credit points (translates to 15 ECTS credit points).
“European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) makes teaching and learning more transparent and facilitates the recognition of studies (formal, non-formal and informal). The system is used across Europe for credit transfer (student mobility) and credit accumulation (learning paths towards a degree). It also informs curriculum design and quality assurance.” http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-policy/doc48_en.htm
The course is designed as a complete programme leading to a Practitioner’s Certificate (by completing units 1-7) or Facilitator’s Certificate (by completing units 1-10). An additional unit is offered for learning how to measure quality of life using a personal outcome measures tool designed by Council on Quality and Leadership that also assess organisational responsiveness to quality outcomes of people.
Whilst the course is designed with a natural progression of units, the individual units can be taken separately as continuing professional development (CPD). Special packages are possible for organisations interested in hosting one or more units. This model enables larger group of participants to learn and develop practice together.
Each unit is approximately 15 hours of guided learning and 15 hours of self-organized reading and assignments including one individual mentoring session. Units 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are delivered at UK National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 3. Units 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 are delivered at UK NQF level 4.
The accreditation and quality assurance for the Transform and Empower course has been designed in collaboration with Crossfields Institute
