Ruby belongs to Mountain Devil Dreaming. The Mountain Devil carries a sack of ochre on his neck, and travels from community to community, secreting the ochre at each destination. The ochre takes on the colour of that country, and is used by women in sacred rituals. This painting depicts one such ritual. I chose Ruby's beautful painting for the organisational page, because I often feel like that Mountain Devil travelling from place to place across country, meeting, learning, working and celebrating with people in this spirit.
