Facilitation courses

Deep Democracy facilitation

This workshop, inspired by the Deep Democracy Institute and the work of Arnold Mindell, develops understanding and competence in a multi dimensional approach to facilitating oneself, teams, and large groups in context of the situation, goals and expectations. Deep democracy facilitation creates momentum through a spirit of appreciation for all parts of a situation, including the aspects we dont like or don't identify readily with. Participants develop practices that can be readily put to use in every day situations.

Facilitating using Talking Paper

Basic and advanced courses in the use of Talking Paper – a visual dialogue tool for facilitation, group work, planning, decision making, negotiation, analysis, and working with conflicts. Talking Paper processes are explored using a learning paradigm that integrates insights from Freire, Mindell and Steiner, and using case studies that demonstrate use of the tool in a variety of settings and cultures.

Human-centred Policy Development

This interactive workshop equips those involved in program and policy development to

  • Understand why and how to build policy tailored to your own situation from human centred values and outcomes using a multi-dimensional framework
  • Assess existing policies, know how to improve language and check against the vision of the organisation
  • Use existing roles and competencies to facilitate and lead policy development: improve existing policies and create new ones coherent with the direction, values and strategy of the organisation in a spirit of collaboration.

Nuts and Bolts of Adult Learning

A series of interactive skill-based workshops for developing participative learning and organising tools and methods of assessment suited to adult learning. The course introduces a holistic paradigm for adult learning that draws on the insights and practice of Freire, Mindell and Steiner.

'Polishing the Mirror'

Polishing the Mirror - An interactive seminar for people engaged in group process and people work.

The workshop is a forum for practitioners interested in exploring this theme together. It is for anyone who works with groups; for instance facilitators, negotiators and professionals involved in people work.

At the workshop we explore an understanding of the inner landscape of the practitioner: how inner processes and states affect the group process, and how we can use awareness of our inner state to understand and support the group.

'Through the Looking Glass'

Focused, experiential learning with theory and practical applications.

This workshop follows on from ‘Polishing the Mirror’. It offersan intimate listening and learning space for us to reconnect as colleagues and peers. Using some principles from the work of Arny and Amy Mindell, we will explore ways of relating with everyday experiences and tensions in our work with individuals and groups.

A heightened awareness of our roles as facilitator, leader, manager, mediator as part of a larger process can connect us more deeply with ourselves, our aspirations, with others in our lives and with the world, as we become more alive, integrated and connected.

The day includes a variety of activities: a little theory, discussion and reflection in the group, inner work alone.

Self-Advocacy & Leadership Courses

This interactive, creative workshop enables individuals to discover their own leadership style and vision, including people with complex needs. In the good company of others, people with diverse communication styles and needs can use and develop their deepest aspirations and innate abilities for encouraging, inspiring, influencing and collaborating in innovative ways.
